WidgetBox Pro, dunno

The question isn’t “Is $30 a year a lot of money to prevent ads on widgets you make.” It’s not much money.

The question is “Do I want to make people who embed the widget see the ads.” No, I don’t think so.

Pro account explained. Do I have this right?

Lots to like about Brides.com wedding day countdown widget (except one little thing)

This is a great idea, almost the perfect widget for a website like Brides.com to relate to its audience.

I do think it goes a hair over the line with branding. I’d place “From Brides.com” on the bottom, like a credit. Or maybe make it a rounded header to form a sort of chrome for the space, and size down the name ever so slightly—but not let the sponsor name appear to be a part of, or to compete with, the title of the widget.

A company doesn’t get into a widget strategy without making sure it gets something out of it, but finetuning to the point just south of overbranded is tricky, isn’t it?
